A complete web browsing and authoring environment and comes equipped with a WYSIWYG style of interface
Amaya is a Web editor, i.e. a tool used to create and update documents directly on the Web. Browsing features are seamlessly integrated with the editing and remote access features in a uniform environment. This follows the original vision of the Web as a space for collaboration and not just a one-way publishing medium.

Work on Amaya started at W3C in 1996 to showcase Web technologies in a fully-featured Web client. The main motivation for developing Amaya was to provide a framework that can integrate as many W3C technologies as possible. It is used to demonstrate these technologies in action while taking advantage of their combination in a single, consistent environment.

Amaya first started as an HTML + CSS style sheets editing software. Since that time it was extended to support XML and an increasing number of XML applications such as the XHTML family, MathML, and SVG. It allows all those vocabularies to be edited simultaneously in compound documents.

How to create windows XP live CD in 15 mins

Microsoft Windows XP live CD is the best way to boot into the Operating System without installation into the computer. By using this XP Live CD you can use XP and its features without actually installing them. This sounds cool, right? Creating a Live CD is not a big problem. It just involves adding of some plugins. One of the easiest ways to do this is using a software called pebuilder. Using it, you can create an XP Live CD in just about 15 minutes!
Here’s all the software you’ll need:

Thw XP live CD can be created by the following steps:
Step 1: Download pebuilder3110a1.exe and install it.
Step 2: For the wallpaper, replace C:\pebuilder3110a\bartpe.bmp with the image you want as your wallpaper. You can
find the default XP wallpaper at C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper\bliss.bmp.
(Both these, of course, assume the C drive as the installation location.)
Step 3: Download the plugins:
xpe-1.0.7.cab: This will create the XP start button and taskbar. It is the GUI shell of the XP Live CD.
Network Driver Plugin Pack: This provides many network card drivers
FreeAV Virus Scanner: This integrates FreeAV
diskexplorer_for_ntfs.cab: A very good file explorer And more you can choose what you want to download to add functionality. There are 537 plugins right now to choose from!
Step 4: Open pebuilder. Specify the source path to the Windows installation file. This should be your Windows XP installation bootable CD, where the i386 folder resides.
Step 5: Click Plugins and add the plugins you’ve downloaded. Since you’ve included xpe-1.0.7.cab, disable nu2shell and the startup group.
Step 6: Specify the ISO image file, and click Build.
Step 7: After that’s done, use Nero (or any other burning software) and burn the image file to a CD. You’re done!

Understanding PivotTables in Excel 2007

PivotTables enable you to extract meaning from large amounts of data. This description is deceptively simple because in fact PivotTables are powerful and  sophisticated tools that enable you to do things that would be impossible or difficult to do any other way. A PivotTable enables you to take what seems to be an  indecipherable mass of facts and extract any trends and patterns buried in the data. You can organize and summarize your data, perform comparisons, and extract meaningful information that can be
invaluable to you and your organization. A PivotTable can work with data that is located in an Excel workbook and also with data from an external database. This is an important factor because it enables you to analyze data sets that are much too large to be contained in a
workbook. Now that Excel 2007 is here, this point seems less important than in the past.
With a capability of one million rows, it seems probable that most data sets will fit into a workbook easily. A more compelling reason to work with an external database is that it ensures data integrity throughout an organization—not to mention that it is easier than
importing the data into Excel just to create a PivotTable.
Why the term pivot? It comes from an analogy between the way PivotTables work and the way you investigate a physical object. Imagine that you have been handed a complex device and asked to figure out what it does. You don’t just look at it from one angle; rather you turn it in your hands, examining it from all possible perspectives to be sure you do not miss any important clues. PivotTables work the same way, enabling you to turn or pivot the
raw data and examine it from various perspectives to extract the information you need.
Then you also have the option of creating a PivotChart, a graphical representation of the information in a PivotTable.

Suppose you work for a chain of sporting-goods stores. Every day you receive a report from each store that includes complete details on that day’s activities, such as number of customers each hour, sales in each of 30 categories, items returned for refund or exchange,
and number of employees on duty at different times of the day. It won’t be long before your Excel workbook is chock-full of this raw data, but what good does it do you? You could stare at this information for hours without gaining any useful insights from it. But with a PivotTable you can quickly and easily answer the following types of questions:
• Which days of the week show the highest sales?
• Which categories of merchandise sell best at different times of the year?
• Are more employees scheduled to work during periods of the highest customer load?
• Do certain categories of merchandise suffer from unusually high rates of return or exchange?
These are the kinds of questions that a business needs to answer in order to operate efficiently. These are also the kinds of questions that PivotTables are designed to answer. The same kinds of analysis are appropriate for almost any kind of data you can imagine, from
political surveys to weather patterns, from quality control in a manufacturing plant to test scores in a high school. That’s the beauty of PivotTables—they are powerful and flexible.

What is Draw?

Draw is well integrated with the other OpenOffice.org programs but stands completely on its own as well. It’s a great drawing program. Of course, it offers the basic drawing functions, such as the ability to automatically create lines, curves, circles, squares, 3-D spheres and more, but you can also use the following more advanced features with Draw:

· Customize your own glows, transparencies, gradients, bitmaps, or use ready-made gradients and import bitmaps.

· Use floating toolbars for easy access to create shapes, curves, lines,arrows, dimensional brackets, and more.

What is Impress?

Impress creates presentations (also known as slide shows) that you display from your computer, often with a projector, so that people can see what is on your screen. Each page of a presentation is called a slide. You add slides to a presentation and then add text and graphics to each slide. You also have all you need to create a masterful presentation. Impress allows you to do the following:

What is Calc?

Calc can calculate anything you hand it. It’s a full-featured spreadsheet program with all the great bells and whistles you’d expect from the best. While Calc is super at doing all the basic spreadsheet things, such as adding, sorting, manipulating rows and columns, and inserting graphics, Calc also lets you do the following:

· Link to external databases, such as dBase and MySQL (or even your email address book) and view, query, sort, filter, generate automatic reports and more, without affecting your original database.

What is Writer?

What do you use your word processor for? Jotting down notes to yourself? Writing letters? Or publishing an entire book with style sheets, automated indexing and table of contents generation, as well as bibliographies? Whether your needs are large or small, Writer is up to the job. Figure 1-1 is an example of a Writer document. Look familiar? This book was written in

OpenOffice.org. Of course, Writer does all the basic things that word processors do, but it

AbiWord

AbiWord is a free word processor that is licensed under the GNU Public license. It provides most of the features that are normally found in a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) word processor, including spell checking, the ability to have various fonts, as well as displaying on-screen what the document will look like when printed.
The way that AbiWord works is also very similar to most other word processing programs that are available on the market at the moment, and so skills in AbiWord will translate well into skills with most other word processing software.
AbiWord is a full-featured word processor originally developed by the SourceGear Corporation, and is now maintained by a open group of volunteers. The application code is quite mature and stable, and developers are adding new features to development branches daily.

Advantages
Some of the advantages of AbiWord are as follows:

  1.     An open file format: many proprietary word processors use a file-format that is not disclosed.  This means that once you have created a lot of documents using that format it becomes very difficult to change to any other word processor since other programs are not able to read the documents that you have created.  Furthermore, by changing the document format every so often, the vendor is able to force you to purchase the next version - even if there are no useful new features to justify the upgrade cost.
  2. Because it is free software (that is, the source code is freely available), bugs in the program can be fixed much faster because programmers from around the world have access to the code.  It may take much longer to have bugs fixed in proprietary word processors because you must wait for the company that owns the word processor to find the time to assign a programmer to fix it.  Also, the company will often require the users to pay for an upgrade containing fixes to the buggy program whereas bug fixes to free software such as AbiWord are available for no charge.
  3. Another advantage of AbiWord is that, being free software, it is not only legal to share the program with your friends, but sharing the software is actually encouraged.
  4. AbiWord runs on many different operating systems.  This means that if you use AbiWord as your main word processing program, rather than being tied to a particular operating system, you are free to use any other operating system at some point in the future with no problems with transition.  This allows for a great deal of choice when people are deciding what operating system they prefer to use on their computer.
  5. It is easy to use.  AbiWord is designed to work in much the same way as most other easy to use word processors.  Using a combination of menus, icons and the graphical representation of the document on-screen as it will appear on the printed page, AbiWord is a very easy to use word-processing program.
